Breast MRI — BRCA screening
Breast MRI for women with a BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation and other high hereditary risk factors for breast cancer. Annually from the age of 30.
Indications for the examination
We perform this MRI scan for both routine diagnostic and pre-operative purposes. APERTA uses a high-field 1 Tesla open scanner (Philips Panorama HFO) — ideal for patients with claustrophobia, children and larger individuals.
Preparation and duration of the scan
- Duration: 25–45 minutes
- Contrast: optional with gadolinium
- Preparation: no need to fast (unless the scan is of the abdomen)
- Please remove: jewellery, hearing aids, glasses
- Referral: from a specialist (orthopaedic surgeon, neurologist, urologist, oncologist)
